Poland limits Sunday shopping

On Tuesday President Andrzej Duda signed a bill gradually introducing Sunday retail trade ban. During the event Minister Rafalska said that Sunday has been restored to the family and from now on it will be properly celebrated.

 

Polish families and employees waited for this moment for many months. The adopted law is aimed at granting trade workers with an opportunities to spend Sunday with their families playing sports and participating in culture stressed Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy.

 

Starting from March 2018, shops will be closed on two Sundays per month, from 2019, the ban will extend to three Sundays per month, while as of 2020 retail trade will be fully banned on Sundays except before major holidays. In addition, trade restrictions are now introduced on the Christmas Eve and Saturday before Easter - until 2 p.m.
