Pro-family policy at the 26th Economic Forum in Krynica

07-09-2016

Minister Elżbieta Rafalska is the guest of the 26th Economic Forum in Krynica. She took part in the discussion panel: “Pro-family policy – new challenges in the face of demographic slowdown in Europe.”

During the panel, Minister Elżbieta Rafalska also argued that a family policy applied in one country cannot be adapt to another country. “There is no single family policy model that we can adopt as the best recipe. This policy must be tailored to each country's needs, taking into account the specificity of the society in which it is implemented,” she said. “It should also be rich and attractive enough to leave the freedom of choice of family policy instruments to each of the parties.”

This year's Forum gathered more than 3 thousand participants from 50 countries. They exchange views on the assessment of the current political, economic and social situation in the world. The thematic focus of the conference is “United or Divided? Europe in the Face of the Challenges of Tomorrow.”

Minister Rafalska and Secretary of State Stanisław Szwed also met in Krynica with Dragoş Nicolae Pîslaru, Minister of Labour, Family, Social Protection and Elderly of Romania, with whom they discussed the draft Directive on posted workers, and with Katalin Novak, Secretary of State for Family and Youth Affairs in the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary.

The 26th Economic Forum was also attended by current Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People, Krzysztof Michałkiewicz. “In the framework of the social economy, which both the European Union and the Polish government place great emphasis on, we want to create good jobs for disabled people. In particular, attention should be paid to places of work in activity centres, social cooperatives or supported employment enterprises. The role of the government is to take care of those who will not function on the open labour market themselves, will not be able to find a job, get a profession and start professional activity,” said Deputy Minister Michałkiewicz.
