The Saturday National Congress of Families at the National Stadium was part of celebration of the National Day of Life. Guests of the Congress include Minister Elżbieta Rafalska and Deputy Minister Bartosz Marczuk. “The slogan of the congress: 'Family as the energy for Poland' best reflects the purpose of the government's actions addressed to families,” Minister Rafalska said during her speech.
The Minister read the letter of Prime Minister Beata Szydło to the Congress participants, in which the head of government wrote that family is the energy for Poland, and even though happiness of a family cannot be enacted, the government is doing its best to make its functioning as good as possible. “Family teaches basis, such as patriotism and concern for the common good; it is in family that our children learn values that shape them, and they will serve as a compass for life. That is why we are doing our best to restore Polish families' hope for stability, decent life and safety,” the Prime Minister wrote.
Minister Rafalska said that family is the potential which is the source of development of our country. “We want to make the most of it, that is why family is at the heart of the social policy of the state.” She pointed out that the addition of the “family” to the name of her ministry was not just a propaganda exercise. “The next step were actions, it did not end with symbolism,” she assured. In this context, she spoke of the most important programme of the family policy, i.e. the Family 500 plus. “The effects are better than we could have hoped for,” the Minister added. The programme affects not only demography – since November last year, we have record higher birth rate by about 10 per cent monthly – but it has also drastically reduced poverty and capitalised families.
