Prime Minister Szydło at the first meeting of the Social Dialogue Council

14-12-2015

The first meeting of the Social Dialogue Council was held on 14 December in the office of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy. It was attended by Prime Minister Beata Szydło and Marshals of the Sejm and Senate.

“Over the past eight years, Poles have not been heard as they deserve,” said Prime Minister Szydło. “Citizens' projects have been rejected. I believe that we will work out good solutions at this table.” According to the Prime Minister, Poland's great achievement is that we can freely express critical opinions. However, we need to listen not only to our own proposals, but also to the voice of the other side.

Minister of the Family, Labour and Social Policy and at the same Vice-President of the Social Dialogue Council, Elżbieta Rafalska, noted that a broad, authentic social dialogue means sharing joint responsibility. In her opinion, the remarks submitted to the Council follow from the knowledge, competence and experience of the dialogue participants. “We will want the fundamental principles of social dialogue – independence, trust, compromise and action based on the law – to be universally respected in the Council,” Minister Rafalska declared.
