New deputy ministers appointed

Stanisław Szwed, Krzysztof Michałkiewicz and Marcin Zieleniecki were appointed Deputy Ministers of Family, Labour and Social Policy. Krzysztof Michałkiewicz assumed the position of the Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People. The nominations were presented by Elżbieta Rafalska, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy.

Stanisław Szwed is a deputy of the Polish parliament of the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th and the current 8th term of office. In the Parliament, he worked in the Social Policy and Family Committee, the Standing Subcommittee on Amendments to the Labour Code and the Standing Subcommittee on the Labour Market, as well as the Extraordinary Committee on Changes to Codifications. He was awarded the title “Man of the Year 2006” by Tygodnik Solidarność and the Halina Krahelska Award for achievements in the field of labour protection and health protection in the work environment. As the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, he will be responsible for the labour market, funds, labour law and social dialogue.

Krzysztof Michałkiewicz is a deputy of the Sejm of the 5th, 6th and 7th term of office. He was the Chairman of the Standing Subcommittee on Social Assistance and a member of the Social Policy and Family Committee. He worked in the Parliamentary Group on Elderly and the Group for Cooperation with Non-Governmental Organisations. Between 31 October 2005 and 5 May 2006, he served as the Minister of Labour and Social Policy in the government of Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz. Awarded with the Lumen Mundi medal, presented by Archbishop Metropolitan of Lublin. As the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, he will be responsible for public benefits and cooperation in the third sector. He also assumed the function of the Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People.

Marcin Zieleniecki is a member of the Management Board of the Polish Social Insurance Association, the Polish Section of the International Society for Labour and Social Security Law and the Board of Insured Persons of the Insurance Ombudsman. As a mediator, he is included on the list of mediators at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. For many years, he was a member of the Committee on Collective Labour Agreements at the Minister of Labour and Social Policy. As the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, he will be responsible for social security and the coordination of social security systems.
