The inaugural meeting of the Senior Policy Council took place on 18 May in the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy. Minister Elżbieta Rafalska presented appointments to members of the Council. Prof. Józefa Hrynkiewicz became the President of the Council. Deputy Minister Elżbieta Bojanowska also took part in the meeting.
“There is a need to build a new senior policy,” said Minister Elżbieta Rafalska opening the meeting. “I have high hopes for this body and I also hope that, in the development of lines of action focused on senior citizens, or giving opinions and views, I can count on the competence and reliability of the Senior Policy Council.”
Minister Rafalska also congratulated all members of the Council, selected from among 200 candidates, nominated by local and state administration, NGOs, trade unions and employers' associations, and universities and research institutions.
