Social Insurance Department is responsible for social insurance in the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. The Social Insurance Department is especially responsible for:

• developing the assumptions of the social insurance policy,
• developing draft regulations related to social insurance,
• adapting the Polish social insurance law to EU law and to the standards of the conventions and recommendations of the International Labour Organisation,
• analysing judgements of the Supreme Court pertaining to social insurance and, where possible, proposing amendments to valid regulations,
• elaborating analysis and forecast studies providing for the evaluation of the situation in the area of social insurance cooperating with authorities performing tasks related to social insurance.
